Gareth Small B.D.S. (QUB) 1989

Gareth is the practice owner and principal, qualified in 1989 from Queens University, Belfast.

He started his career in dentistry working in the hospital service, specialising in oral surgery. Gareth purchased Helens Bay Dental Practice in 1994 and is particularly proud of the wide range of up-to-date treatments offered by the practice.

Gareth has a particular interest in implantology and teaches fellow dentists about implants in general practice through the International Team for Implantology Education Committee for Ireland.

Gareth is a full member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and attends courses on all aspects of cosmetic dentistry.

Lidia Ferritto B.D.S (Lond) 1987, LDS RCS (Eng), MSc (Lond) 1992, MFGDP RCS (UK)

Lidia qualified from University College, London in 1987 and then went on to gain an MSc in periodontology from Guy's Hospital.

Lidia's wealth of experience has encompassed running a private referral practice for periodontology and implantology in London.

Lidia is a fellow of Straumann Institute and has specialist registration in periodontology.

Lidia not only has a close involvement with implantology at Helens Bay Dental Practice she also writes articles on implantology as well as lecturing and teaching in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

Sarah Lochhead B.D.S. (Dundee) 1996

Sarah qualified from Dundee University in 1996, and has worked in private practice for a number of years. In 2000 she obtained a Certificate in Restorative Dentistry from St Ann's Dental Centre at Manchester under Dr. Paul Tipton, since then she has continued to develop her special interest in cosmetic dentistry by attending an extensive number of postgraduate courses in a range of topics including tooth whitening and Invisalign.

She recently completed a one-year certificate course in cosmetic dentistry with Dr. Chris Orr, Chairman of British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, at Q Clinic, Harley Street, London, and has now been accepted as a full member of the British Association of Cosmetic Dentistry, (www.bacd.com).


Sarah is one of only a small number of dentists in Northern Ireland certified in Invisalign, an exciting new technique that can straighten teeth using nearly undetectable aligners.

Sarah works in private practice in England and Northern Ireland, and aims to provide a professional, quality service, incorporating a range of restorative and cosmetic solutions, in a relaxed and friendly environment.
